Regional Championships

Due to the recent increase in coronavirus infection rates, the Victorian Government announced Stage 4 restrictions across metropolitan Melbourne and some other areas of Victoria, and a return to Stage 3 restrictions for remaining areas of Victoria. Unfortunately, gymnastics clubs in Victoria have been affected and have had to close their doors again with restrictions remaining in force until at least 13th September.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an effect on all areas of Gymnastics including Gymnastics Victoria Championship Events, Club Invitationals and Gymstar Events.

Gymnastics Victoria’s priority is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of gymnasts during this time and in the lead up to events. This includes following medical recommendations that a minimum of 14 weeks is required from return to in-club training prior to participating in competitions.

Gymnastics Victoria would like to advise clubs, coaches, judges and athletes on the status of events for 2020:

Gymnastics Victoria Championship Events
Although the events team were working towards events over consecutive weekends in October or December, these events are no longer possible as they do not fit within the 14 week training requirements.

Club Invitational Events
Unfortunately, Gymnastics Victoria will not be able to sanction any invitational events for 2020.

Gymstar Events
Gymnastics Victoria will unfortunately be cancelling all Gymstar events for 2020.

Gymnastics Victoria are continuing to explore opportunities for gymnasts to engage in gymnastics during this time with lockdown challenges and are looking into holding a fantastic event online later this year that all our clubs can participate in – stay tuned for details!
