2021: COVID-19 Updates

Communication sent to clubs Wednesday 17 February

The Victorian Premier has announced that the five-day Circuit Breaker Lockdown with Stage 4 restrictions will end at 11.59pm tonight, Wednesday 17 February.

Woohoo!

This means that gymnastics clubs across Victoria can re-open from Thursday 18 February provided:

- A density quotient of 1 per 4sqm for each space, or

- Classes limited to 50 people (excluding anyone necessary for running the class).

- Record keeping is required and venues with capacity of greater than 500 patrons must publish a COVIDSafe Plan online.

- Face masks will once again need to be worn inside for anyone over the age of 12 years unless they are participating in exercise that leaves them out of breath or puffing. Coaches and other attendees in the gym may remove their face mask if they are communicating with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing or in situations where seeing the mouth is essential for communication.  Some other exemptions to wearing face masks apply, you can view the Victorian Government’s information here.

The Premier’s announcement can be found here.

This is great news for Gymnastics in Victoria and we look forward to seeing everyone back in action.

A few extra updates from the GV team:

Communication sent to clubs Friday 12 February

All I can say is that we’ve done this before as a State and that we can do it again.

Today the Victorian Premier announced a return to Stage 4 lockdown restrictions from 11.59pm tonight until 11.59pm on Wednesday 17 February.

This means clubs will once again need to close their doors while we work as a State to keep the coronavirus under control.

You can read the full announcement here

A full table of restrictions can be found at the above link at the bottom of the page.

I understand how devastating this is for clubs; today I was supposed to spend the day visiting regional clubs in East Gippsland, however I am now headed back to Melbourne.
We all have a role to play to keep Victorians safe and we are hopeful that after this five day lockdown we will be able to see gymnastics clubs re-open across the State.

If you’d like to attend a zoom session for an update about processes at your own club around parent communication and employment then GV will be facilitating an open forum discussion this evening online at 8pm.
