Board Member (Chair) - Judy Young
Judy is an experienced educator who has worked in the secondary, tertiary, VET education and sports industries. Judy currently works in a governance role overseeing risk management, child protection and human resources in the Catholic school sector. She is also skilled in educational compliance, staff coaching and staff development. Judy has strong community and not-for-profit experience, and was the President of Eastern Gymnastics Club for 6 years, immediately following its formation in 2010. Judy has a Bachelor of Science (Education), a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from The University of Melbourne and a Certificate in Governance and Risk Management from the Governance Institute of Australia. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Deputy Chair - Alexandra Ash
Alexandra is currently employed by YMCA Victoria as the General Manager of their subsidiary brand Kingswim. She has attained a Master of Business Administration along with Master of Policy and Politics in addition to her undergraduate qualifications. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Additionally, Ash is a Non-Executive Director and the first female Board Chair at Disability Sport and Recreation (DSR), a movement for those with a disability to connect to live a healthy and enriched active life.
Board Member - (Chair of Governance Committee) Alistair Edgar
Alistair Edgar is a progressive thinker and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors with sound experience in gymnastics, event management, strategy development, stakeholder engagement and health promotion. He is the Director of Energetic Gymnastics in Traralgon, which has grown from a start-up venture to an established local club focused on participation and making a positive difference for gymnasts and community. Alistair has experience working in the local government sector and with the state government to deliver the Healthy Together Victoria initiative and other projects focused on working with communities to improve health and social outcomes. Alistair is a regular face in gymnastics, and has previously been a High Performance Coach and Events Director at Gymnastics Victoria as well as National Events Manager at Gymnastics Australia. Alistair joined the Gymnastics Victoria Board in May 2014.
Board Member - Molina Asthana
Molina is Vice President of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association, the Founder and Executive Director of Multicultural Women in Sport, a Council Member of the Law Institute of Victoria, a Commissioner for the AFL South East Commission, a Council Member for the Graduate Union of University of Melbourne (Graduate House), a Member of the Tribunal for Football Federation of Victoria, Principal for Swarup Asthana Lawyers and Business Advisors and also is a Director on the Board of Directors for Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand. Molina has attained a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws with a major in Commercial Laws. Molina has worked as an Associate with MinterEllison and a Principal Solicitor at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office.
Board Member - Tim Robertson
Tim Robertson is currently a director at Peninsula Gymnastics. He has been heavily involved in gymnastics for many years. Tim has been a competitive athlete, Victorian Men’s High Performance Coach and part of Gymnastics Australia’s Coach Education and Events team. Tim knows first-hand what it is like to be involved in all levels of gymnastics with national and international coach accreditation. Tim regularly makes time to consult with other clubs and associations and also presents workshops and coaching courses throughout Victoria and Australia.
Board Member - David Cannizzo
David is a recognised sports organisation professional specialising in management, commercial growth, club/team/participant development, marketing, events and stakeholder relations. He has been an innovative and strategically driven leader focused on best practice and exceptional results while being motivated by continual improvement. David holds a Bachelor of Business (Majoring in Sport and Leisure Management) and is currently undertaking his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at La Trobe University. David has extensive sport experience with a thorough understanding of organisational management responsibilities within a fast-paced and demanding environment.
