Gymnastics Victoria are proud of having so many talented athletes across the State. We will be featuring Athlete of the Month profiles – you can nominate an athlete to be featured by clicking here.

The Gymnastics Victoria June Athletes of the Month are Alexandra, Alisa and Ashari from Prahran Rhythmic Gymnastics.

These three girls are on the Australian Rhythmic Gymnastics national team. They qualified to attend the Pacific Rim Championships and Oceania Championships before the COVID-19 forced the worldwide shut down.

The girls were hit hard but quickly re-evaluated the situation and were able to make the most of it. They started training online, doing master classes and live streaming sessions for the rhythmic community that were available to anyone wishing to attend.

The girls are very responsive to any younger level gymnasts and are always willing to answer their questions. They have remained very positive over the last few months and have helped other gymnasts stay positive too!

The girls train in the same club but despite being rivals they are great friends and always support each other both on the floor and off the floor, displaying true sportsmanship qualities at all times.

The girls have all been podium finishers at the Australian Nationals and proudly represent Victoria and Australia both nationally and overseas. Alex is ranked Number one in Oceania and Australia, Ashari is number three and Alisa is number four - top guns in the field!

As well as competing the girls also coach and judge which they have been doing while completing their year 12 studies.

Keep up the great work girls!
