Angela Bennett, a coach from BTYC Gymnastics, is our March Hero of the Month!
On Saturday 2nd March, Angela took on the task of shaving off all her hair to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. This charity provides a support network for families and sufferers of the debilitating blood disease.
Angela has known several people who have suffered from this disease, and found comfort in a charity that directs a large amount of their support to rural communities who are often overlooked.
Angela started her gymnastics career in Portland Gymnastics first as a gymnast before moving to BTYC in Melbourne 4 years ago. Angela hopes to change the perception for women who don't have any hair to make this look more acceptable within the community.
Outside of gymnastics, Angela is a university student and is always looking for ways to provide support to children with additional needs, hoping to become a teacher in future years. Angela is always looking to attend professional development sessions and offers assistance to other coaches whenever she can.
Angela managed to raise over $1,300 for the Leukaemia Foundation by participating in the World’s Greatest Shave.
Congratulations to Angela on an amazing fundraising achievement!
