Victorian Aerobics at its finest in Diamond Creek

It was a busy few days at Community Bank Stadium in Diamond Creek, with the 2019 Gymnastics Victoria Primary and Secondary Aeroschools taking place on the 1-2 August, followed by the Aerobic Victorian Championships on 3 August. 

Primary AeroSchools

On Thursday 1 August, primary school students from sixteen schools across Victoria came together to compete in the Primary AeroSchools competition. Teams competed in Pairs, Trios and Groups across the Mini, Junior, Level 1 and Aerodance competitions. The team from Girton Grammar took out the aggregate trophy for the Primary School competition after a fantastic effort from all of students.

Secondary AeroSchools

The second day of the competition saw students from 22 secondary schools in Victoria compete in the Secondary AeroSchools in the Intermediate, Senior, Level 1 and Aerodance competitions. The team from Our Lady of Mercy College were named as the Secondary School Champions and were presented with the aggregate trophy.

The highlight of the day for many of the spectators was the Aerobase competition, where students from four specialist schools performed the routines they submitted for the Aerobase Online Championships. The Division 1 Aerobase winners were the team from the Marnebek School who performed their energetic and creative routine to ‘Octopus’s Garden’. 

Winners of the Division 2 Aerobase competition were the Barwon Valley School ‘Movers’ who gave a stand-out performance to ‘We Will Rock You’. Congratulations to all of the Aerobase competitors for giving the crowd some brilliant performances.

Aerobic Victorian Championships

On Saturday 3 August it was time to find out which Aerobics athletes would be crowned the Victorian Champions! 

Aerobic gymnasts competing in the Victorian Championships represented eight different clubs, including Advantage Gym Sports, Aerodynamix Gymnastics, Balwyn Gymnastics Club, BTYC Gymnastics, Loreto Toorak, Melbourne Girls’ College, Melbourne Gym Sports and Palmer’s Gym. 

Gymnasts competed Individually, in Multiples and in Groups in the Mini, Junior, Intermediate, AG1, AG2, Senior and AeroDance divisions.
