The Gymnastics Victoria Athlete of the Month for April is Miyabi Akiya!
Miyabi is a Pre Junior Rhythmic Gymnast from Prahran Rhythmic Gymnastics Centre who has a promising career ahead of her.
She was crowned the Pre Junior All Around Champion at the Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Victorian Championships this month where she also received two Gold Medals for Rope and Ball as well as Silver Medals for Freehand and Hoop.
Miyabi has just been named in the Victorian Rhythmic Gymnastics Team who will compete at the 2019 Australian Gymnastics Championships next month. At the 2018 Australian Gymnastics Championships she competed as a Sub Junior and won Gold on every apparatus to take out the title of Sub Junior All Around Champion.
Miyabi always comes to class on time and never leaves until she has accomplished all goals set by her coach. Her training and work ethic make her a role model for everyone at the club and her ability to self-motivate and develop herself is highly impressive. She is a hardworking, persistent and dedicated gymnast who is an inspiration to all the levels above and below her.
To top off her dedication to gymnastics, Miyabi is a beautiful person who is always smiling and is kind and supportive to her teammates. She is a role model for everyone wishing to succeed in Gymnastics and we look forward to seeing big things from her.
