WAG Junior Victorian Championships at Geelong Arena
The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Junior Victorian Championships are taking place at Geelong Arena this weekend Friday 2 until Sunday 4 November.
Over 700 athletes will compete across the three days of competition, representing over 50 different Victorian clubs. Gymnasts will travel from clubs all across Victoria to compete for the title of Junior Champion.
Athletes qualified for this event through the eight Regional Championships that were held across Victoria during September and October. Gymnasts competing in the Junior Championships qualified from competitions held in Geelong, Melbourne, Mildura, Warrnambool, Maffra and Albury.
The event begins on Friday evening with the Trans Bass Challenge, with athletes representing Victoria in Level 6 & 7 gymnastics. Gymnasts qualified for this event through the Trans Bass Trials held at Waverley Gymnastics in late September. The 12 Victorian gymnasts will be competing against athletes from South Australia and Tasmania to determine the Trans Bass Champions.
The Junior Victorian Championships will begin on Saturday morning with competition from Women’s Artistic gymnasts in Level 4 and 5. The action continues on Sunday, with competition continuing for Level 5 gymnasts as well as Level 6.
Gymnasts will compete on Beam, Floor, Bars and Vault. The Level 4 gymnasts will be awarded in teams, while awards will be presented for winners of each apparatus as well as crowning an All-Around Champion for Levels 5 and 6.
National Level 10 gymnasts will also be attending the competition to sign autographs and give advice to young gymnasts about fulfilling their potential in gymnastics!
Tickets for all three days of competition are available at the door of Geelong Arena. Tickets for competition on Saturday and Sunday are also available online through Trybooking: https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=427123&
