Rhythmic Gymnastics Intermediate Victorian Championships Wrap



 The Victorian Rhythmic Gymnastics Intermediate Championships took place at Prahran Gymnastics Centre on 26 August 2018. The event featured competition for Levels 5, 6 7, 8 and 9 athletes as well as for Stages 1 and 2. 

The day began with the competition for the Level 5 athletes competing on Floor, Hoop, Clubs and Rope. Jana Nguyen from Prahran Gymnastics was named the overall Level 5 champion, and Ruyton Blue was the winning team.

Session 2 featured competition from the Level 6 athletes. There were some fantastic Floor, Ball, Club and Ribbon routines from all of the athletes. Jana Kartakazas from Prahran Gymnastics won the all-around competition and the Strathcona Blue Team won in Level 6. 

Session 3 was jam-packed with action, with competition for the Level 7, 8 and 9 Rhythmic gymnasts. The Level 7’s competed on Floor, Hoop, Rope and Ribbon, with Jett Bolt from Prahran Gymnastics claiming the individual title and Strathcona Platinum taking out the team title. 

The Level 8’s competed with Ball, Floor, Clubs and Ribbon to give the spectators a great show of talent and skill. Tamara Gibson from Kara Kara Rhythmic Gymnastics won the all-around competition for Level 8, while Strathcona Yellow were the team winners. 
Level 9 was a one woman show, with Olivia Schaeffer showing us her skills with the Hoop, Ball, Clubs and Ribbon. 

Session 4, the last of the day, included the competition from Stage 1 and 2 Rhythmic Gymnasts. The athletes in this stream are young gymnasts who are on the elite International pathway for Rhythmic Gymnastics. Stage 1 competed in Floor, Hoop and Rope, with Sasha Mandler from Glen Iris Gymnastics winning the all-around competition. The Stage 2 athletes competed in Floor, Ball and Rope, with Alicia Tan from Prahran Gymnastics being named the Stage 2 Champion. The team from Prahran Gymnastics were crowned the Stage 2 Victorian Champions.
