TeamGym Regional Roadshow

Gymnastics Victoria have been holding a series of TeamGym workshops around Victoria to help clubs and coaches understand competition rules and requirements.

AcroFun, Leongatha Gymnastics Club, Ballarat Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Eureka Gymnastics and Ballarat Gymsports are the five clubs who experienced the workshop this week.

The sessions focused on explaining the competitive TeamGym manual, covering understanding the rules, demonstrating skills and helping design floor, tumbling and single mini trampoline routines.

Gymnastics Victoria TeamGym Officer Miina Bjorninen was very happy with the interest around the state in TeamGym.

“These sessions are really great for clubs who are thinking about running TeamGym to help get heads around the rules and requirements for each level and apparatus,” said Miina.

“It’s great to see so much interest in the program with over 20 clubs asking to learn more about TeamGym.”

Strong evidence from Europe shows that TeamGym is a great program for retaining older gymnasts thanks to the competitive and social environment.

Gymnastics Victoria also hope TeamGym can assist with addressing the high demand of coaches around the state, as gymnasts who stay older in the sport are more likely to become coaches.
