Start Here, Go Anywhere: Zoe Lorenzin
Former elite Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Gymnast Zoe Lorenzin has just come back from four months away at International Gymnastics Camp (IGC) - an American Specialised Summer Camp in Pennsylvania, USA
After retiring from gymnastics as an Olympic Training Squad and National Team member, Zoe headed to the USA to coach at IGC where she has gone back for three consecutive years.
“I was attracted to the idea of it as a great opportunity to increase my knowledge. I started at IGC in 2014 and I’ve gone back for three years since then.”
Returning again and again, Zoe is extremely positive about her experience there.
“I’ve learnt much more than I realised; techniques, spotting, drills, and beyond that you get to meet some incredible people who have really become friends for life.”
At camp Zoe works with children of all ages and abilities stating they generally come for one week at a time over the nine weeks.
“The gymnasts can be true beginners through to higher level athletes like those who are trying out for college scholarships or national teams throughout the world using our amazing facilities.”
Zoe began coaching in 2013 when she was eighteen but to coach at IGC, no qualification is needed, as you just need a background in gymnastics and a willingness to learn.
Now a WAG Advanced Coach, Zoe has learnt and developed her coaching throughout her time at IGC.
With camp now finished up, Zoe is heading to Sweden for the next few months, an opportunity she got through working at the gymnastics camp.
