August Victorian Championships Wrap-Up

After a big four days of gymnastics action at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, the August Victorian Gymnastics Championships have come to an end. 

The multi-Gymsport event included the Victorian Championships for Aerobics, Acrobatics and Women’s Team Gymnastics as well as FusionFX, the AMCO TeamGym Championships and AeroSchools incorporating AcroSchools and Rhythmic Schools. 

The first day of competition on Thursday 3 August was AeroSchools Secondary Schools with 180 routines including pairs, trios and groups. The overall winner with multiple impressive performances across the day was Melbourne Girls College. Thursday's competition also included our Aerobase All-Abilities Aerobics Grand Championships with nine fantastic performances and Barwon Valley crowned the overall winners. 

On Friday 4 August was our AeroSchools Primary Schools competition which also featured AcroSchools and Rhythmic Schools. With over 130 Primary AeroSchools entries there was some fierce competition but Ivanhoe Grammar were our overall winners. 

In the evening our third FusionFX competition was held with plenty of standout performances. Team Adrenaline wowed the audience with impressive displays of acrobatics and took out the beginner category with Moana Heart of the Sea, the intermediate category with Wonderland and the Advanced category with Taken.  Click here to view the Team Adrenaline Taken routine on Facebook. 

On Saturday 5 August it was a big day of gymnastics with our Victorian Gymnastic Championships across Aerobics, Acrobatics and Women’s Teams. Well done to everyone on their individual performances and the following teams and clubs who were overall winners:

Aerobics Champion Club: Melbourne Girls College 
Acrobatics Champion Club: Skylark Sports
Women’s Level 7 Team: Chamford Gymnastics 
Women’s Level 8 Team: Niddrie Gymnastics
Women’s Level 9 Team: MLC Gymnastics
Women’s Level 10 Team: MLC Gymnastics 

The final day of our August event was the inaugural AMCO TeamGym Victorian Championships where clubs could enter teams in different levels to compete across floor, tumbling and mini trampoline. It was an excellent day of competition with Energetic (Team 2) taking out Level 1, Energetic also winning Level 2 and Flyaway Gymnastics winning Level 3.
