Finalists aplenty at the Victorian Sport Awards
On Wednesday 9th March, the Gymnastics Victoria Team was proud to support Hudson Irwin (Victorian Men's High Performance Centre), Cassy Geffke (Aerosport Allstars) as well as their staff and CEO Jamie Parsons at the Victorian Sport Awards. For the second consecutive year running, Gymnastics Victoria and its members were regarded by their peers for achieving outstanding success in 2015.
Hudson Irwin from the Victorian Men's High Performance Centre was one of just three Finalists in a very competitive Junior Sportsperson of the Year Award category. Hudson has been a stand out athlete for many years in the junior ranks of Men's Gymnastics, and we're proud of all his achievements in the sport.
Cassy Geffke from Aerosport Allstars in Grovedale was recognised as a nominee in the Kitty Flanagan Female Athlete of the Year Award. Cassy achieved incredible results this year at the Special Olympics World Games, and is currently working towards becoming a qualified coach with Gymnastics Victoria. Congratulations to Cassy, her parents Dianne and Hans as well as her coach Kerry Woods.
Gymnastics Victoria was also proud to be recognised as a Finalist in the Sport Development Initiative of the Year Award category for Aerobase - an innovative and accessible program for entry level Aerobics, used by schools and other community groups across the state. GV's CEO Jamie Parsons was also recognised as one of three Finalists in the coveted Sports Administrator of the Year Award category. This award winner was based on a voting process by the Victorian Professional Network of Vicsport, which demonstrates Jamie's recognition and profile among the sports industry.
