Board Member (Chair) - Judy Young
Judy is an experienced educator who has worked in the secondary, tertiary, VET education and sports industries. Judy currently works in a governance role overseeing risk management, child protection and human resources in the Catholic school sector. She is also skilled in educational compliance, staff coaching and staff development. Judy has strong community and not-for-profit experience, and was the President of Eastern Gymnastics Club for 6 years, immediately following its formation in 2010. Judy has a Bachelor of Science (Education), a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from The University of Melbourne and a Certificate in Governance and Risk Management from the Governance Institute of Australia. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Board Member (Deputy Chair and Chair of Finance and Risk Committee) - Anthony Johnston
Anthony Johnston is a highly motivated, CPA qualified senior executive with over 25 years in financial services. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors with strong functional skills in financial management and risk evaluation, complemented by vast experience in strategy development /implementation, business transformation, stakeholder management, leadership and business development. Anthony’s strong interpersonal and influencing skills have been used over many years to align external client and internal stakeholder management with sustainable business growth/value objectives, often in environments of intense change, uncertainty and scrutiny. Anthony brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Gymnastics Victoria Board and he looks forward to meeting many members of the gymnastics community in his role.
Board Member - (Chair of Governance Committee) Alistair Edgar
Alistair Edgar is a progressive thinker and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors with sound experience in gymnastics, event management, strategy development, stakeholder engagement and health promotion. He is the Director of Energetic Gymnastics in Traralgon, which has grown from a start-up venture to an established local club focused on participation and making a positive difference for gymnasts and community. Alistair has experience working in the local government sector and with the state government to deliver the Healthy Together Victoria initiative and other projects focused on working with communities to improve health and social outcomes. Alistair is a regular face in gymnastics, and has previously been a High Performance Coach and Events Director at Gymnastics Victoria as well as National Events Manager at Gymnastics Australia. Alistair joined the Gymnastics Victoria Board in May 2014.
Board Member - Georgie Austin
Georgie is a Senior Associate at Corrs Chambers Westgarth specialising in media and general commercial dispute resolution. Georgie acts for major media and commercial clients as well as the State Government and has conducted litigation in a broad range of commercial, media and administrative law matters in most Victorian and Commonwealth jurisdictions.
Georgie has completed an intensive negotiation workshop at Harvard Law School and am currently undertaking a Master of Laws (LLM) part time at the University of Melbourne. Georgie joined the Gymnastics Victoria Board in November 2015.
Board Member - David Cannizzo
David is a recognised sports organisation professional specialising in management, commercial growth, club/team/participant development, marketing, events and stakeholder relations. He has been an innovative and strategically driven leader focused on best practice and exceptional results while being motivated by continual improvement. David holds a Bachelor of Business (Majoring in Sport and Leisure Management) and is currently undertaking his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at La Trobe University. David has extensive sport experience with a thorough understanding of organisational management responsibilities within a fast-paced and demanding environment.
Board Member - Alexandra Ash
Alexandra is currently employed by YMCA Victoria as the General Manager of their subsidiary brand Kingswim. She has attained a Master of Business Administration along with Master of Policy and Politics in addition to her undergraduate qualifications. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Additionally, Ash is a Non-Executive Director and the first female Board Chair at Disability Sport and Recreation (DSR), a movement for those with a disability to connect to live a healthy and enriched active life.
